How to backup Contacts on iPhone: Step-by-step guide with images

The biggest problem while moving to a new smartphone is to move the content from the previous device to the new one. Contacts are the most important of them all; you cannot survive without them. Or if you lose your phone then you have to recollect all the contacts by answering the call with “Who’s there?”. Android smartphones have that import/export option in People app to backup or restore your contacts but in iPhone, backing up contacts is tricky. We know all these tricks and want to share them with you so you will not lose your contacts again.

Apple iCloud Backup

iCloud is Apple’s official cloud storage for iPhone users. If you are using iPhone, then you should have an Apple ID. All of your important data syncs to the iCloud so you won’t lose any important file from your iPhone.

To backup your contacts to iCloud:

  1. Unlock your iPhone and open Settings.
  2. Go to iColud, enter your iCloud details and tap Done.
  3. Once you are in, you will see a list of apps of which you can create the backup with an on/off toggle.
  4. Enable the Contacts toggle and the contacts will automatically sync with the cloud.

Now whenever you use this iCloud ID on other iPhone, all the contacts will sync back automatically.

My Contacts Backup (Free)

This app appears on top if you search for contacts backup on App Store. You don’t need to depend on the internet connection to backup or restore your contacts in iPhone. This app works same as import/export contacts feature in Android smartphone.

To restore the contacts, open the email you sent to yourself and open file in attachment. Select restore all contacts, all your contacts will be back in no time.
